Royal Court Theatre, an Edwardian landmark in Wigan, is being lovingly restored after decades of closure.

The project is to revive the ornate auditorium and backstage facilities to create a flexible, contemporary venue for theatre, music, dance, comedy and community events. While honouring the building’s heritage, the design introduces modern front-of-house, accessibility and technical infrastructure so the theatre can host productions of regional and national scale and offer a welcoming stage for local talent.

Atelier Crescendo responsibilities included full acoustic design during the early stages of the design.
